Public meeting tonight, May 24, 7:00 p.m. at the Bourget Community Centre

Do bike paths in the City of Clarence-Rockland
matter to you? To your family? Get involved!
The City of Clarence-Rockland and the Recreational Trails Advisory Committee is currently conducting
a review of the city bike paths circuit which was established in 1998. The Advisory Committee was established in
2010 and is the official voice of public opinion in the decision making process.
It is responsible for making appropriate recommendations to Municipal Council on behalf of the
municipality’s residents. Much work has been done by the committee and now is the time to present the proposed
circuit to the population.
Residents are invited to comment on this circuit before the final presentation to city Council
Members for adoption.
You are invited to a public meeting May 24 at 7:00 pm at the Bourget
Community Centre and May 31 at 7:00 pm in the City Hall Council
Chambers in Rockland.
For more information, please contact Pierre Archambault at 613-608-0425.

Clarence-Rockland passes new sign bylaw while there is...
Sign pollution on the Ottawa side |
|

While the City of Clarence-Rockland is cleaning up the errant signs that have sprung up around
the various communities, the same can't be said over the Canaan Road border on the Ottawa side.
This scene is enough to distract even the most diligent of drivers as they approach the traffic
lights at the Canaan/174/17 intersection.

Highway 174 update:
Drivers' frustration continues as 174 traffic builds |
|

"What's happening with Highway 174?" a reader asks the Canaan Connexion.
We have updated our Highway 174 web page to pass on what we have learned.
It doesn't look like much will change for a few years yet, as it will take that long for an "Environmental

1st Rockland Scouts
Victoria Day flea market a huge success |
|

Judging by the crowds of people and the crammed parking in and around the Grenon parking lot,
this year's flea market was a grand affair.
"We had a record number of vendors and the weather was perfect," says Jeff Moore, Group
Commissioner for the 1st Rockland Scouting Group. "We raised a lot of money to help our youth to attend camps
and pay for our programming costs.
This photo was taken from atop the Clarence-Rockland Fire Department ladder truck, which was
part of the emergency services display.

New boss downsizes
(If you've ever worked for a boss who reacts before getting the facts and thinking things
through, you will love this!)
A local company, feeling it was time for a shakeup, hired a new CEO. The new boss was determined to rid the company
of all slackers.
On a tour of the facilities, the CEO noticed a guy leaning against a wall. The room was full of workers and he
wanted to let them know that he meant business.
He asked the guy: "How much money do you make a week?"
A little surprised, the young man looked at him and said, "I make $400 a week. Why?"
The CEO said, "Wait right here." He walked back to his office, came back in two minutes, and handed the
guy $1,600 in cash and said, "Here's four weeks' pay. Now GET OUT and don't come back."
Feeling pretty good about himself the CEO looked around the room and asked, "Does anyone want to tell me what
that goof-ball did here?"
From across the room a voice said, "Pizza delivery guy from Domino's."
