Glory to the New Born King!
Advent 2010
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Advent is the season when Christmas around the world
wait in hopeful expectation for the coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ. The year opens with the promises of the coming reign of God and
prayers that the people of God will be ready. We hear in the reading of
Scripture, the ancient promise made to David that the hoped for Messiah
will come. We are asked to watch and prepare for this long awaited
event. Just before Christmas we hear of the joyful expectation of Mary
as she hears the announcement that she will bear a son, whose name will
be Emmanuel (God with us). Finally, with all our spiritual preparations
over we celebrate Christmas. The church's Christmas season goes on long
after the shopping centres have stopped playing carols(until February
2nd). So, Come - prepare the way for the
New Born King.
This fall has seen
many successful events at St. John and St. James. We give thanks for so
many willing hearts and hands. A good time was had by all present, at
both church suppers and at St. John's Ottawa Valley Review and
Pie Auction, and at the recent Mississippi Mudds presentation of
"Memories of the War Years". We still have the best cooks in the Valley!
Our Campaign for Cornerstone's Journey of Hope continues to be a success
and we give thanks for Carol Burrows ministry to us on October 31st.
As we journey
through the Advent and Christmas season, we hope to see you at one or
more of the events in our parish and special Christmas Services which
celebrate the season.
Come - celebrate
with us, the Birth of our Saviour - who is Jesus Christ, the Lord.
I hope that you all have a Holy and Blessed Christmas Season.
Yours in Christ,

The Rev. Robyn Cuming, Priest and Rector
