I just
wanted to drop a line about Tundra, who we've renamed Ben. One
month ago we adopted him from the very helpful and friendly staff at
the SPCA, and he's simply been the most amazing and wonderful dog ever
since the moment we got him.
I would have thought from his troubled past he'd have a hard time
adapting himself to our household, but it's amazing how quickly Ben
came out of his shell. When I first saw him at the SPCA, I saw a
poor, timid dog so desperately wanting to trust us but just being too
afraid. On the day we got him, he went from a noticeably nervous
and timid dog to a wonderful, happy puppy. It's like he was
saying "thank you".
His
progress has simply been unbelievable. He was housetrained in
days. He loves going on long walks, and very quickly learned to
walk on leash. He absolutely adores all people now, including
men and children (and everyone we meet loves his cute smile and happy
attitude!). He loves every dog he meets, and even likes cats
(but most have not been too fond of him!). He has zero interest
in chasing the rabbits and squirrels. He learned a whole bunch
of commands shockingly quickly. He wouldn't even go near stairs
when we got him; now he happily runs up and down them with vigour.
He's not afraid of the train going by, even the thunderstorms we've
got. It's amazing to believe this is the same timid dog we saw a
month ago.
He
almost never makes a noise, and has zero aggression issues. He
hasn't destroyed or chewed anything in our house. And he loves
nothing more than sitting with me getting a scratch. He is just
about the perfect dog, and we all love him. I'm really quite
shocked to think why anyone would treat him the way they did, and more
so that Ben was more than willing to forget his entire past and become
the perfect dog despite it. Simply put, we are so lucky to have
him. He brightens our lives every day and is a joy to have.
Even if that means picking up a ton of white fur off everything ...
Thank you so much for saving Ben, and for everything else you do.
James
