Hard to
believe that when we went to your shelter we were looking for a medium
sized lab mix. Had no intention of looking at, let alone adopting a
small dog. One of the shelter workers convinced us to have a visit
with Buddy (originally named Tater). Much to our surprise we went
home with Buddy. He was so skinny & quiet, just sat & watched but
didn't really interact.
Buddy used to
throw up after about 10 minutes in the car when he first came home
with us. As we had a trip to Algonquin planned for that summer, that
wouldn't do. We started taking him in the car at every opportunity
and he overcame his difficulty. Three years later we drove to Nova
Scotia and
he was perfect the whole way. He is a great little traveller.
On that first
camping trip about 3 months after we adopted him, Buddy came into his
own. A dog that had been so quiet suddenly came to life and showed us
his real personality. He is affectionate and playful and we are so
very glad that we were lucky enough to have him come home with us.
And he is definitely spoiled; he has more dog toys than any other dogs
we've had combined! He also prefers to sleep with us and it was not
uncommon
for my husband & I to each be on the edge of our respective sides of
the bed while Buddy was stretched out between us. Who would've
thought such a small dog could take up so much space. :0)
We decided to
adopt a companion for him earlier this year and got Tucker - another
pug mix. Although Tucker is bigger, Buddy is older & definitely in
charge. As you can see from the pictures they get along well.
