Hi there. My name is Buster and I was adopted from
the SPCA last year. I just wanted to let everyone know that my new
mom and dad are taking great care of me. They adopted me last spring
and we’ve had lots of fun since then (sometimes they aren’t having as
much fun as I am though). When I was adopted I was very skinny. I
only weighed 55 pounds!!! I guess I wasn’t eating enough. Now I’m up
to 70 pounds and feeling great. Although mom and dad say I think I’m
only 5 pounds, ‘cause every chance I get I jump up on the nice white
leather couch and drape myself over the both of them. Luckily those
red wine stains were removed or I really could’ve been in the
doghouse.
It
took me a little while to get used to my new home. I still don’t like
being left alone too often but I’m starting to get better … finally …
It only took three broken crates to get used to being on my own. I
can’t wait to see mom and dad when they get back from work. I get so
excited that I can't stop my bum from moving side to side.
I’ve stayed out of trouble for
the most part. I say for the most part because when I can smell human
food, my appetite can sometimes get the best of me. I try to make
sure mom and dad aren’t looking when I jump up on the counter to grab
the package of bacon or get into the garbage. But for some reason I
always get caught … or at least that’s what they think.
I’ve been to the vet a few
times, but mainly for allergies. I think it has to do with my food so
mom and dad are trying a couple of different foods to find out what
I’m not allergic to. One time though, I hurt my leg real bad. I was
playing with dad and tore one of my dew claws. It really hurt. I had
to have surgery to remove it. The surgery went ok but then they put
this big plastic cone around my head!!! I had to wear it for 2
weeks!!! I didn’t like that much, but my paw healed well and I didn’t
have to wear it again.
I’ve made lots of friends over
the last year. But my bestest friend in the whole entire world, not
including my parents of course, is Koby. We were both found at the
same SPCA. He lives just two seconds away. I know that ‘cause
sometimes when my dad doesn’t put me on the leash right away when I
get outside, I bolt over to his house hoping he is outside too. We
get along real well and can play for hours.
I
have lots of fun with my new family. We go to Bruce Pitt and I can
run around and play with a whole bunch of other dogs. My dad tells me
that I need to learn that I can’t always be the boss though. I get to
go in the car lots too. Every time I get in the car I think I’m going
back to Bruce Pitt or PetSmart and get really excited. I also love
sticking my head out the window and feeling the wind on my face. When
we go to grandma and grandpa's place, I get lots and lots of treats
... and maybe a bit of human food when no one is looking. Grandma is
always making something good to eat.
Thank you SPCA for taking care
of me while I waited for my new home. I’m glad I have a new home with
lots of loving people around. We live not too far so hopefully we’ll
stop by lots to say hi to all the staff.
