Charlotte
was adopted in August 2010; we had not long ago lost our previous dog
to severe arthritis and hip dysplasia that we had to have her
euthanized. As you can imagine, we were very sad and lost
without her and my two daughters 14 and 16 had basically grown up with
her. Her name was Lexi and she too was a pup we had rescued and
adopted.
We
visited the Aylmer SPCA during a soccer tournament and we all fell in
love with the “quiet” sad little black puppy. We adopted her and
took her home two days later. Charlotte was Sara at the time.
Charlotte
certainly has lost her quiet shyness and is a happy, rambunctious
little pup now. As you can see from her photos, she has made
friends with our neighbour's dog. The photo of Charlotte in the
snow was taken the morning of our first snowfall on Halloween;
Charlotte ran crazy through the snow and absolutely loved it.
The other photo of her is actually when we took her home from the
shelter, such a tiny little thing.
Charlotte
is a sweet, loving little dog and greatly enjoys sleeping on our beds
or being on the couch, she is always beside one of us. She was
easy to train and no longer has any accidents in the house and can sit
and give a high-five with her paw for treats.
We
greatly appreciate all the great work you do at the Aylmer SPCA and
the staff were absolutely friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and caring.
You can see that everyone there truly has the gift of love of animals.
Charlotte
goes between our home in Ottawa to running on 40 acres on weekends in
the country and will be at the cottage on the St. Lawrence next summer.
Thank
you so much, and
Charlotte
will be loved and cared for forever with us. She truly makes us
smile and laugh.
Update January ’11 …
The
first shot is the day after Christmas, Charlotte really likes to drink
in unusual places, she drank under the Christmas tree and we had to
re-fill the tree constantly, even though her water bowl is always
full.
Second
shot is actually
Charlotte
drinking from the waterspout outside the house.
Third
shot is Charlotte waiting in the pick-up truck for her “ride”.
Charlotte
loves going for her rides and anytime we say 'wanna go for a ride' … she
comes running and jumps in. Charlotte also loves the 4-wheeler,
sleigh behind ski-doo and the ski-doo itself; she is a bundle of
energy and runs like mad in the bush chasing after my two teenaged
daughters.
