When
we first saw Ella online we were not necessarily looking for a new
addition to our home. We had just recently put down my sweet cat
that I have had since I was eleven years old. Just two months
shy of Honey's 19th birthday, she went into kidney failure and I had
to let her go. I swore I would never get another animal because
it all hurt too much. Honey was my heart and soul for nearly 19
years.
At the
end of April I started looking online at rescue animals, just to look
... yeah right! I love miniature schnauzers and decided to type
in the breed and area into a google search. As fate would have
it, Ella's little face popped onto the screen, all scraggly and
adorable. We had to meet her.
My
fiance could not make the trip to meet the sweet girl we fell in love
with online, so I went alone. The crazy raggamuffin greeted me
with endless energy, kisses, and wiggles ... she even climbed the half
wall! I knew she was right for us ... mop of fur and all!
We
renamed our girl
Denver
after my favourite NFL team, the Denver Broncos. She has already
fit into our lives quite well. After two weeks she is already
sleeping in her crate, is house trained, can sit, lay down, and is
working on shaking a paw. Her nipping/teething is a work in
progress, but we are lucky that she prefers toys to furniture!
Her
favourite pastimes are: napping in the sun, napping with me,
running around like crazy with her stuffed mallard duck, people
watching in the front yard, and following us around like a shadow.
Denver
brings so much love and joy to our little family and we hope we bring
the same to her. She was definitely meant for us!
Kendel
(Christopher, and DENVER! :))
P.S.
I have included one picture of her napping before her haircut ... I
promise it is the same dog! :)
