Drago

I am Marie-Hélène and I came with my mother to the SPCA of Western Quebec less than two months ago, on the third of January, to adopt two little cats.

Arthur, formerly named Bubbles or Bou, is the dainty cat of the house, who cleans himself (and his newfound buddy) every hour of the day.  He is quite
obsessed with food of all kinds and looks up to us appealingly with his beautiful amber eyes.

(Drago longs for the outdoors - wait a little more, sweetie, when your coat is full and the snow has melted!)

The small spot of white on his nose gives him a distinctive look, and we recently found out another of his distinctive traits:  he wants us to pet him as he eats!  Prince Arthur, we call him on occasions.

(Ever watchful by the window, Drago plots his future escapades.  Squirrels and birds had better beware of this sturdy fellow!)

The other, the baby of the family, Drago (Griffon), is more savage than his brother and takes very seriously his playtime.  If he's not watching intently outside, spying on squirrels and birds, he is sun basking on the bed.  Now, that is a cat who knows how to rest, unlike fretful little Arthur!  We had to shave Drago's fur that was full of knots, but thankfully he doesn't seem to mind it.  The first nights, he came to sleep under the covers with us; now though, he is faring much better.

(When something moves under the carpet, you can count on Drago for a thorough investigation!)

They are both aching to go outside, but we want to wait until spring, and until they get microchips.  They've already met through the window a few of the neighbours' cats, and I know they will enjoy the outdoors as much as our last cat did, sixteen year-old Figaro.

(They play-fight, battle for the best chair and venture into each other's food plate, but at the end of day, what these little cats prefer is to cuddle next their buddy's warm and familiar presence.)

We have a great nickname for these two cats:  les coeurs d'ébènes (the Ebony Hearts).  On their behalf, thank you SPCA of Western Quebec! Thank you!
