We were very saddened by the loss of our family cat in September. In
late November/beginning of Dec. we had another loss of our Basset
Hound, he was ten and was
diagnosed with an auto-immune deficiency at age 4. After many
surgeries of cyst removals he was covered in tumors and not himself so
we decided to do what was right. He had a buddy, same age, who
appeared healthy without question. This Basset was very special and
dear to our hearts. He went into what we thought was a depression but
later was diagnosed as aggressive Lymphoma cancer. He was given two
weeks, he did not make it to one.
Our hearts were so heavy and filled with so much sadness, I did not
think I could ever have another pet. I cried every night and the house
was so empty without them, I still tear when I talk about it. We made
the decision that a cat would help us through. I began to look at all
the SPCA website photos but when I came across Felix's picture I found
myself continually going back. I adopted Felix in January. He had two
rare hernia operations but he is a healthy happy kitten. The first
night with us he sang constantly as if to say thanks. He is a constant
joy.
