I had accompanied Susanne when she was looking into adopting Brixton
and had asked about smaller dogs since I had been wanting a second dog
for awhile. Carole kindly showed me a blonde cocker spaniel who was
called Teddy. It was love at first sight and a few days later I
brought my dog Sandy to the shelter to make sure the two of them got
along. They were fine together but I had to wait another week to
bring him home because he had to be neutered and to have an operation
for a cherry eye.
Finally, on Oct. 4, I was able to bring him home and I changed his
name to Gilligan.
We had a few issues at first - after wearing the cone for ten days, we
discovered that his cherry eye operation was not successful and the
poor little guy had to go through it all again but he was a trooper -
he never lost his happy disposition and his love for every person and
dog he met. The cone barely seemed to bother him.
The
second operation has been very successful and he's a wonderful dog!
He's always happy and is very well behaved. He's learning to walk
properly on the leash and always comes when he's called. He enjoys
our long walks in the bush and has a great time playing in the
backyard with his big "sister" Sandy. They like to wrestle and chase
each other.
I can hardly remember what it was like before he came into our lives.
Thank you Carole, Michelle and everybody else for all the good work
you do and thank you for introducing me to Gilligan.
Here's a picture of him with Sandy and also a closeup of his cute
face.
