We adopted Cookie and Stella (now called Gucci due to the closeness in name to our dog Bella caused confusion) in December, 2010 from the SPCA of Western Quebec.  We live in Moncton, NB, and found these 2 girls on the website.  We were looking specifically for Persians (as we are already quite familiar with the needs of the breed).  The ladies at the SPCAWQ were incredibly helpful through e-mails back and forth as we got everything in order to make the 12 hour drive up then back.  We have NO regrets, Gucci and Cookie are doing amazing, adapted quick and easily, and integrated into our family of fur-babies nicely.

Cookie, the Calico Persian, is a very independent cat by day, and smooch by night.  She lays on us for hours of attention and petting.  If we dare stop, she taps us with her paw trying to get our hands back on her for more loving.

Gucci, the Seal-Point Persian, on the other hand is more playful.  She runs around the house playing with the other cats, plays in the bathtub and sink tapping the water and hoping for drips from the faucets, and keeps guard in our windows.  She loves having the tip of her nose rubbed and when petted begins purring instantly.

We have every intention on going back to the SPCAWQ when we next visit family in Ottawa (this summer).  Thanks to all the ladies at the shelter who helped us through the adoption process by phone and e-mail, and for helping us with a quick visit when we were visiting and picking up Gucci and Cookie so we could get back on the road quickly.  You forever have a place in our hearts for helping us make our house feel more like a home because of our fur-babies. 

All of our pets come from shelters from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec (2 different shelters) - the appreciation these animals show for the love, stability, and attention that comes with a forever home is remarkable.  If you're reading this and are thinking about adding to your family but unsure of whether to rescue from a shelter or purchase from a breeder - I hope you choose adoption, the gift of life and a good home is priceless to these animals.
