Just to let you know our new friend Jack (border collie mix - we adopted him last Monday), is settling in just fine.  We've done a lot of walking and jogging and cottaging.  He's doing very well in cars, on the boat (see picture) and around the house.  He's also excellent with our three kids and our friends' pets.  He doesn't bark (except when we're swimming, see below), doesn't chew on the furniture, and is generally quite well-behaved.  We're very happy with him and he seems happy with us.

We found that he's anxious when we're swimming in the lake.  He stays on the dock and barks at us to come back out.  We're working on that - he's already a bit better now than he was the first few times we went swimming, but we were wondering if there was anything in his history that might explain his anxiety when his people are in the water?
