I
just had to share our weekend--well, since Saturday afternoon when we
brought JOSEPHINE 'home'.
Really, I don't even know where to start!...the ride home was a bit
eventful, as Daisy, the hound, decided she was NOT HAPPY. It's
ok, she is difficult at the best of times...but we laughed...she will
just have to learn/adapt.
We got home and took all 3 out back to romp in the snow.
Josephine did a perimeter patrol of the fence...and was so
gentle. Daisy and Maple just watched. We then went in and
just 'chilled'...a quiet time with a nice fire and laughter. Jo
is not good on stairs...so she slept in the kitchen while I worked on
dinner...and the other 2 were in the family room with Keith and the
kids...and that also worked well.
Dinner,
for Jo, was a great success. She ate well...and took her
time...we put her in the back hall, as Daisy is VERY food
protective...so this also worked well. Over the course of the
evening they were in and out about 5 times...Jo had a few 'loose'
poops, but nothing serious.
Another snack before bed...she slept well. There was a bit of
crying in the night, but she then settled. She had a small
accident in the night--so we will cut back the evening snack.
Sunday was wonderful...a quiet morning with the girls...Jo and Maple
seem to be quite good buds. Maple is caught between wanting to
play with Jo, and Daisy being grumpy...we are 'choosing' to encourage
the calm friendship, and ignore Daisy and her grumps. All is
fine...lol.
So,
we come to the pics. Yesterday afternoon, we all (3 dogs, 6
adults) headed to the country to cut down a Christmas tree. I
cannot begin to tell you how this filled my heart, and how much my
heart needed this. Jo had a blast...as did all of us watching
her! She tried to run...loved the deep snow, didn't know who to
go to or where to start. She and Maple seemed to be playing DOG
NINJAS and would run out of places AT each other. I laughed til
the tears ran down my face. She HAD to get in front of the tree
as it was being cut!!...and then would run over and PLOP down in front
of someone for a big hug and cuddle! It was such magic...I don't
even know how to explain it or say THANK YOU, enough. So, not
even 24 hours out of the shelter...and she was supervising our tree
cutting...lol.
We got home and she just was almost in a coma she was so tired.
She ate her dinner, we brushed and brushed her. Hannah did her
ears, and also worked a little of the tartar off of her teeth.
And, then she slept all eve--out a few times, but basically...she
slept.
This morning she is just happy. Her favourite place is taking up
the kitchen floor--and I am going to be baking today--so she will keep
me company. She is WONDERFUL.
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH AGAIN...the words seem inadequate...but they
are from my heart.
We will keep you informed...and she is going to the clinic here this
week.
Our love and best wishes--from our family, to the family there.
