I
adopted Devon, now known as Kona. Everything is going great.
I couldn't ask for a better dog. He's integrated into our
house/family very quickly and seems like he has been with us for
years. The
first night we had him home he curled up beside my bed and slept right
through the night. He's extremely well behaved, so loyal,
listens to commands, doesn't bark, very smart, gentle, sleeps through
the night, and is easily the most handsome dog in town.
Everyone we meet always tells us what an amazing dog he is and even
our new friends at the Vet told us they were talking about him all
through their lunch break after we were there for his first check-up.
He's certainly a very special dog.
Update February '09 ...
I
thought you guys might enjoy an update from Kona with some new
pictures too. We've been keeping him busy with all kinds of
activities. Before the winter snow fell, he loved chasing me
through the mountain bike trails, but now he's just loving the snow
and joins us on excursions XC skiing, snowshoeing, and climbing.
He just can't get enough of it.
When he's not blasting around outside with us, he loves when we get
down on the floor and snuggle with him by the fire. He's not
allowed up on the couches, but occasionally we find him up there
watching for us out the window when we get home from an outing.
He has two stuffed animals that he plays with, his Ducky and his
Bunny. He never tears them apart, just tosses them around and
mouths them. It's very cute.
He's really keen on hunting rabbits and coyotes from the big window in
the bedroom upstairs. He's got a great view of the forest from
there. So far he's retrieved one rabbit and one pheasant; one
very big pheasant. Played with them both in the backyard and
them let them go safely after we convinced him that he should play
with animals his own size. That's when he started spotting
coyotes walking down the trail behind our house during the night.
These
days he's getting excited with the talk of spring coming and the water
opening up for swimming. There's even talk of his first visit to
the grandparents' cottage in PEI and Nova Scotia. What fun there
is to be had on the beaches and in the ocean!
We still find it so hard to believe that there was a time before we
adopted him that he was all alone being juggled between shelters for
many weeks. Thankfully he found you guys in Aylmer and we have
much love and appreciation for the care you gave him when he had no
one to bring him home.
