There’s a Great Dane living in our house.
He’s
white with big brown patches, and he has these fabulous blue eyes that
draw attention everywhere he goes. He walks with confidence, and
gallops with power. He plays, and barks, and wags his tail.
There
was a time when he was a shadow of the Great Dane he is today.
The
SPCA of Western Quebec rescued him. They fed him with both food and
love. They started the process of giving him back his canine life.
In May
2009 we took over.
We
feed and groom him. We walk and play with him.
We teach him right from wrong. We hug and kiss him.
Most
importantly ... we love him.
Lance
has a home, and he is becoming the Great Dane he was meant to be.
Update
April ’10 …
Lance is doing very well. Currently, he is stretched out on the couch
for his afternoon nap. Who am I kidding.....it's his all day
nap.....and being on the couch is nothing special either. He's come a
long way in the past year.
He is now just over 100 lbs. He has managed to re-design two door
frames. He has chewed through countless blankets. And he has
destroyed a number for "big chewer" dog toys. Oh well, he is Lance
and we love him to bits.
He and Molly have formed quite a bond. She knows that she can outrun
him in the park so she likes to play keep-away games with him.
Interestingly enough, this spring he has demonstrated strength and
stamina that is keeping Molly on her toes.
Thank you again for rescuing him. Today it is hard to believe where
he came from....and that is a good thing. He is an amazing dog. He
has a gentle, goofy nature that makes many people smile......starting
with Kathi and I!
