Please pass on that River is doing well at my house. He seems to
have settled in nicely and gets along well with the cats. He got
frantic when I put him in the crate the first few days, so I've let
him loose in the house and he's been really good ever since. No
destructiveness at all. I
think he just sleeps all day upstairs in my room. Only one
housetraining mistake and that was more my fault than his because I
didn't get him out in time.
He's
still pretty skittish, and often at the most unexpected times. He
seems to be scared of enclosed spaces, even more so if they're dark.
He will just sit down and refuse to go into say, the carport, or onto
the back deck, which is covered in. I'm not sure whether it's better
to make
him go anyway to show him there's nothing to be scared of, or give in
to his fears. He's got a nice big enclosed backyard to go in, but he
won't go there unless I go too. Maybe he needs another young dog to
keep him company and show him how it's done.
I've attached two pictures. They're not the best, in that he
still looks a bit worried in them. I have seen the occasional
happy smiling, tails up, bouncing around in the yard episode, so I'll
send some of those photos when I get some.
