Toby's
new chapter in his very young life.
We
brought Toby (aka Aiden) into our family June 14th.
It was
time to add a little buddy for our Quincy who in the past year lost
his two buddies, Casey and Duffy, Gordon Setters (see
Rainbow Bridge for pictures of
them).
Toby
had his name changed from Aiden and is now responding to it when we
call him.
Toby
has adjusted to his new "forever home" quite well.
He
goes to bed in his crate without any fuss, the same for his afternoon
naps.
I'm
sure he thinks his new home is a pretty darn good one, all the toys,
treats, cuddles and of course the huge backyard for him to play.
He
keeps Quincy on his toes for sure. Each day is better and Toby
torments Quincy less and less. Quincy is becoming used to Toby's
puppy antics. I'm sure that Quincy wishes he did not have such a
magnificent tail which always seems to catch Toby's eye, resulting in
Toby wanting to leap and catch it.
He
also likes to grab pant legs and shoes and this present activity is
discouraged since he likes to do so when we are wearing them. We
know that that will also pass as he matures.
He is
a darling little guy that loves to cuddle when picked up. He has
a special mat that he lays on beside my chair until it is breakfast
time. He knows when that time comes as he sits and cries for me
to hurry up and get his bowl down so that he can dig right in.
We
fell in love with him at first sight and we know that he will be a
forever member of our family.
Update July ’12 …
Toby
is doing just great! He is 25 lbs now compared to 11 lbs. He's
doing so well with his house training as well, very few accidents.
Actually we are surprised he is gaining weight .... with the amount he
poopers in the course of a day.
He's a
funny and loving little guy. He and Quincy have just finished playing
a game of chase around the kitchen.
I'm
trying to teach him how to come down the stairs as he is very nervous
about attempting to start. Although yesterday he did come down,
albeit took half an hour. I put a piece of kibble on the step
and each time he came down one more, he would get another kibble.
Of
course, in the morning we scoop him up and carry him down to get him
out quick for pee pees. I'm sure he can't wait and doddle for
half an hour on the stairs.
He is
a little sweetheart and we love him so.
