My
name is Jennifer, and my husband Scott and I adopted a miniature
Dachshund from the SPCA of Western Quebec a little bit more than a
year ago. Her original name was "Misty" and she was from a puppy
mill. We renamed her Twix and she took to the name right away!
Sometimes Twix could be hard to work with; being from a puppy mill she
was very scared of people, was not doing well health-wise (she was so
skinny!) and was not very well house-trained. However, after a
year of working with our "little girl", she has become a social
butterfly who jumps from lap to lap when we visit people, not to
mention how much she loves other dogs.
She's
much healthier now (as you can see from the pictures) and we think
she's much happier. She definitely has accepted Scott and me as
"her people" and I think that we're giving her a much better life.
We
thought we'd share with you how well things are going with Twix, and
let others know that although sometimes dealing with a puppy mill
rescue can be difficult, the rewards can be great! We wouldn't
give up our "Twixer" for anything!
