Canaan Road - History How old is the Canaan road? Where did it get its name? The Canaan Road is the border between the Cities of Clarence-Rockland and Ottawa. Preliminary research suggests that it was named (as so many early roads were) because it lead to the village of Canaan, from what was the old highway to Montreal (previously Highway 17 and now Highway 174). Canaan village consisted of at least several houses and a post office. Can you add more? Back to top
