Dear MDRA Family:
Season Wrap-up
By this time next week all players will have finished their
season. But we've still got a few teams alive in the playoffs, and to
those we wish you good luck -- we're all pulling for you!
This year we
will be conducting year-end coach and bench staff evaluations. All feedback is
particularly welcome and we hope to have a good response. Responses will be held
in strict confidence and feedback to bench staff will be anonymous. The online
survey is being completed and a link will be emailed within the next week.
It is time to return MDRA equipment to your team manager or other designated person. Please remove name bars from jerseys, launder them and hand them in along with all rings, goalie equipment, first aid kits, pinnies, pylons, etc, etc. Managers, when the equipment is ready to be returned, send an email to Laura Lauzon, MDRA Equipment Manager (laura_lauzon@carleton.ca), to arrange a time to drop the gear off at the MDRA equipment room. This should be completed by the end of April.
Help - MDRA Executive Needs
You!
Parents -- take your game to the
next level and join the MDRA executive. Five positions are opening up that need
to be filled, plus there are a few vacant positions that could also be filled.
It's crucial that these spots are filled or MDRA simply won't function properly.
The vacancies are:
New vacancies - President, Webmaster, Player
Liaison, Ice Scheduler, Secretary
Existing
vacancies - Vice President, Fundraiser, Tournament Director (MDRA used to
have a tournament...), Competitive Director
No experience necessary! So far, for all these positions, one name has come forward for Ice Scheduler. For more information, call Mike Donoghue at 613-821-3311, or send him and email at donom5@rogers.com.
Come Out to the MDRA Annual General Meeting
(AGM)
The MDRA AGM will be held Thursday, April 5th
from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM in the hall upstairs at the Metcalfe Arena. At
this meeting reports will be presented from each of the executive
members, awards (Coach of the Year and President's Award) will be
presented, and the new executive for next season will be formed. Come out for
coffee and treats and hear the news first hand. Everyone present at the meeting
is eligible to win the AGM Draw, which is for one free
registration for next season (over $350 value!).
**NEW** 2007-2008 Registration Deadline is June
23rd
To help with planning, and to be in
a position to negotiate for more ice time, ringette registration for
next season will close on June 23rd. There will be an early
registration deadline of May 31st (save $25). All registrations received after
the final deadline of June 23rd will go on a waiting list until
teams are formed and it is clear there is room for those players. The
payment deadlines won't change. Post-dated cheques will be accepted for
September1, October 15 and December 1.
Register in person or by
mail You can mail your
registration to the address provided on the form, or register in person. Another
email will be sent when the new registration form is available that will also
indicate when and where the registration days will be.
Children's Fitness Tax
Credit
Last December the federal government announced a
Children's Fitness Tax Credit that would become effective in January
2007. Ringette fees are eligible for this, however the fees must
of been paid in 2007 to be eligible for your 2007 taxes (prepared in
2008). As such, fees paid for this season do not apply for almost all
our players since the fees were paid in 2006. For next season, receipts for
tax purposes will be issued in December or early January. For more information,
visit the Ontario Ringette Website here.
