2. Ultrasound Exams

This includes exams such as abdominal or pelvic ultrasounds, pre-natal exams, intravaginal ultrasounds, and Doppler tests.  As the name suggests, these procedures use sound waves and a computer to make images which can be interpreted.

In general, U/S techs can work around most body jewellery.  It will only impact on the quality of the test if it's really in the way.  If it is in the way, it can leave an artefact in the pictures which can interfere with interpretation.

You are probably safe to leave in your jewellery until you're there, but be prepared to take it out if it creates a problem (this would likely only happen with navel piercings).

Again, inform the tech about any jewellery or implants in the area under examination.
