The PianoJoy Play Books Have been designed to provide an entertaining ten week introduction to the piano for children who would have been too young to start regular half hour studio lessons. The ten week series of lessons gives the parent and teacher an opportunity to assess the child’s interest and capability at the piano. The lessons are designed to be successful with four and five year olds. The lessons are serious but made into games instead of being presented as formal study.
This colorful book has been prepared by pianists and music teachers Joy Hodgkinson and Ursula Pidgeon, with the illustrations by Linda Dean. Their collaboration has produced this program.
Joy Hodgkinson ARCT, RTM has taught piano in Winnipeg, Manitoba; Perth, Australia; and Carleton Place , Ontario and is Organist and choir Director for Balderson United Church.
Ursula Pidgeon B.Mus., RMT studied at Queen's University and the Banff Centre. She has taught piano to students of all ages in Kingston and Ottawa, Ontario and now resides teaches and is a accompianist and performer in Kalowa, B.C.
Lynda Dean is an artist who specialises in Pastel and Watercolour Painting. From Montreal she has moved back to Winnipeg where sho continues to paint and exhibit her work..
