We
have had "Idgy" now for over a year, having brought him home from the
SPCA in August 2009.
In the first few days, Idgy was very reserved and afraid of many
things, both inside and outside the house - your staff prepared us for
this very well, having given us many useful tips, and telling us about
his unfortunate history. We accepted the challenge of providing
him with a new "forever" home, and he rewards our faith in him with
daily hugs, licks and other sorts
of endearing things!
He is
still shy with new people, but gets along really well with other dogs.
We think he loves his new home, especially his big sister
Sadie (whom we also adopted from the Aylmer
SPCA, in December 2008). Idgy quickly learned the ropes thanks
to his big sister - he had previously never dealt with stairs (which
we have a LOT of!), but in no time, he was beating everybody to the
top, even Sadie.
The vet says he's in good health, and has a terrific coat. He is
a
"bottomless pit", so we have to watch his intake of food, as he will
eat just about anything. Don't even get us started about when
Idgy and Sadie's
grandparents visit - they know they're gonna get lots of treats, so
they do
their best to put on their "cutest dog in the world" faces!
We
fell in love with Idgy right away, and we cannot imagine life without
him - Sadie is especially happy, as she now has a little brother, or
as we think she likes to call him - her partner in crime! Idgy
always comes when called and loves to be petted - he's become such an
affectionate pup, that we have given him endless nicknames - our
favourites are "Big Love" and "the Lothario of licks".
Idgy has come a long way from not being able to climb stairs - he now
acts like a puppy and has fun with his toys, and his sister.
Thank
you SPCA for everything, for bringing a wonderful little pup into our
lives (twice)!
