Eating Enzymes for Energy

I keep thinking this information should be everywhere and it is so revolutionary some doctor is going to be speaking on it any day.  I keep thinking it is so simple maybe everybody already knows, yet no one seems to.  I keep hearing information out there that is so close to explaining this, but it just doesn’t quite say it.  And when I realize no one is going to say it in as simple a way as it is, I just want to scream it from every roof top.   All I would need to yell is “we need to eat our enzymes.”

It sounds crazy I know, but it really isn’t.  Enzymes are always found in raw foods. Some times they can be heated slightly and are often in the highest numbers in grains and plants that have been able to sprout slightly, but basically, raw fruits, raw vegetables and raw nuts have a treasure of enzymes that are capable of solving our weight problems, energy problems and health problems all in one.

I know you are saying “if it is that easy, how come we don’t already know about it?’ I agree, I have been saying that myself.  The diet industry has been skirting around the issue, but there are two basic reasons why we may not know about it.  One, there is no money to be made with this information, it is simple good wholesome eating, with no restrictions and two, all the food laws and regulations are based on cooking all the value out of our food and therefore, making them void of enzymes all together.

So what is the big deal about enzymes?  There are many things to tell you, it is not just one major benefit.  The first key thing is metabolism.  Have you ever heard the statement “they just have good metabolism?”  I used to think that was a fallacy or maybe something genetic.  But why should one person be born with good metabolism and another not.  Well, the good news is you can drastically influence your metabolism and it starts with enzymes.

When food enters our body it has to go through a digestive process to break it down and then a metabolic process to further utilize the minerals and nutrients in the food.  If the food we eat does not naturally contain the enzymes our body needs then it must produce the enzymes itself in order to break it down.  What most often happens is our body does not have the energy or resources to make enough enzymes and runs out of ability to produce as many as it could use.  This means the metabolic process is sacrificed and does not utilize the food to the best of its ability.

So the consequences of a sacrificed process is that we expend a significant amount of energy our body had that it did not need to use at all.  We should be able to store that energy and gain more from our food.  Not to use up what we have and get nothing from the food in return.  Secondly, when our processes are sacrificed we can miss out on valuable minerals and nutrients that are in our food that would provide a great benefit to our body.  If the food we eat is not metabolized properly, energy, vitamins and minerals are discarded as if they are waste because the body was not able to break them down and absorb them properly.  Sad to see those vitals minerals go to waste (pardon the pun).

So we need to change the whole way we look at food.  No longer should we worry about what not to eat.  We need to make sure we are eating what we need and then the rest are minor details.  If you start your day with enzymes from fruit you cleanse your body, give it vital energy to start the day and supply it with an initial supply of enzymes.  Eat raw vegetables with or for lunch and you will have done the most valuable thing you could have done for the health and vitality of your body.

The real change in perspective come with this: make sure no matter what you eat that you accompany raw fruits and vegetables with it or before it, to make sure that you are always giving your body the enzymes and assistance to digest and metabolize what ever you have put in your mouth.  You see, a large cooked piece of pizza is an indulgence we always enjoy and quite often feel guilty about.  But, understanding enzymes allows us to look at these indulgences in a totally different way.  If you were to have a some raw vegetables prior to eating the pizza, you have not only supplied your body with vitamins and minerals that it will not get from the pizza, but you have also supplied your body with enzymes to break down the pizza, so it is not so taxing on your system.  Now, you can feel good about what you have done for yourself and enjoy the pizza too!

There has been a lot of press about pure raw food diets.  That is not what I am suggesting here.  It is even recommended that for supper you stick to the traditional, cooked meals, so that your body does not have to worry about consuming energy and absorbing vitamins and minerals.  The cooked meals are easily passed through the system at the end of the day when the body is demanding very few resources.  However, this is assuming you have had your dose of enzymes earlier in the day.

All enzymes remind us is that we need them in our diet to gain energy, to make sure our body is accepting all the vitamins and minerals it needs and that it needs help breaking down our food for both of those purposes.  They are not telling us to replace them with the things we love, nor make them our sole diet.  There is room for everything we love to eat. We just haven’t been making room for our enzymes.  Add those to your diet every day and you will be shocked at how you start to feel and how you start to look at food again.
