(Rockland, March 29, 2012) Children of the Motherland is presenting Dance Through Cultures And All Talents, a musical and dance extraveganza this coming Saturday, March 31, at the Optimist Performance Hall which
is located at 1525 du Parc Avenue, behind the YMCA/L'Escale complex.
Children of the Motherland a non-profit
organization, co-founded by Rockland resident Goretti Fukamusenge. Its focus is to help children in need, whether
in Canada or abroad. This performance is a fundraising event for children in refugee camps in Burundi. Part of
the money raised will be donated to the local food bank.
Goretti (named after the saint) is originally from Burundi and is a practising lawyer in Ottawa. She
recently visited a refugee camp in Burundi and "saw the need" to help the children. She has been a Rockland
resident for three years.
If you click on the poster on the right, you will see that three groups are featured. They are:
Abezamutima, and Madame Omely-Vietnam.
ABEZAMUTIMA is a Burundian Traditional Dance Group based in Ottawa. It is an organization made of experienced
dancers, drawn together by their common interest and passion for traditional dancing. The group has young performers
(4 years old to 12), and adults’ performers (13 years and over). It was established by a group of highly experienced
Burundian folk and traditional dancers. Through its artistic endeavors, the group hopes to share its heritage with
communities and promote cultural diversity in the National Capital Region.

Dance Through Cultures And All Talents will be happening
between 4:00 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets are reasonably priced at $10 for adult, $ 5 for kids (6 years and over) and
